The Celebration of SECMOL’s 30 Years

During the celebration of SECMOL’s 30 years of success in improving the Ladakhi education system, Sonam Wangchuk announced his next social enterprise: Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL).

Governor Satya Pal Malik, a chief guest at the event, praised Sonam Wangchuk’s continued efforts in demonstrating how civil societies can collaborate with governments and village communities to improve public services like education for lasting impact.

In the presence of Governor Satya Pal Malik, HIAL Founding Member and CEO Gitanjali JB signed a memorandum between HIAL and Kashmir University and a memorandum between HIAL and J&K Bank for coordinated efforts and financial assistance in the running of the university.

To mark the occasion, Gitanjali JB spoke about the importance of empowering India’s youth through experiential and contextual education. “Imagine how talented and skilled our country would be if the youth is given the right kind of education; an education that trains and enables them to design indigenous, creative and innovative solutions.”

J&K Bank and HIAL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support potential innovators and entrepreneurs in Ladakh and nurture technology-based ideas into independent self-sustaining businesses.

Kashmir University and HIAL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on infrastructure use and in generating goodwill amongst Ladakhi students by ensuring timely exams and results.
